ROCKit is a music content supply company

The initial aim was to provide a far more comprehensive music library for manufacturers and suppliers of digital jukeboxes in the U.K. As a jukebox operator myself with successful companies like Perfect Music Ltd, and later Sounds Good to Me Ltd, it became apparent when technology went digital and touch screen that the entire music selection was going to be controlled by the three or four companies that produced the machines in the first place.

Worse still for niche music operators like myself the same music was supplied en bloc and en masse to every site via their operators. Imagine if every restaurant in the country had exactly the same menu!

My bikers' bars and student pubs were appalled to receive the same chart and rap hits as high street sites. All the profiling had gone out of the window. Of course, it is possible to profile digital jukeboxes by disabling genres - but few people bother. And, I haven't come across a machine yet that will allow you to delete the irritating track that pops up as background music.

Born out of this frustration came the drive to cater for the niche markets. Whilst the rest of the world seems to provide chart updates upon chart updates (and they do a very good job) no one specialised. So, ROCKit has in depth catalogues of Latin, Hard Rock, Country, Folk, Oldies, Blues & Jazz, Crooner, and so on.

At this stage, ROCKit has no plans to provide video clips or video services.
